This month, a mother with a sick son was saved from eviction when the St. Vincent de Paul Society and other local agencies stepped in to help.  She had a good job with a nonprofit but lost her position in January because of recent changes made by the federal government.  She spent her savings on the January and February rents and feared losing her apartment.  Her son was recently released from the hospital, where he was treated for sickle cell anemia.  The mother is stringing together part-time jobs until she can find another management job and couldn’t meet her March rent.  SVdP and other local agencies helped her avoid eviction.

Meanwhile, another neighbor was moved to tears by the attention provided by SVdP volunteers. She felt the care and attention were impactful because SVdP not only helped her avoid eviction by providing part of her back rent, but they also visited her at home and listened to her story.
